Woods Hole Marine Biological Lab is an internationally known center for research, education and training in Woods Hole, MA. It was established in 1888 as a non-profit institute devoted to the study and education of biology. It holds one of the largest print and electronic collections of biomedical, oceanographic, and marine biological literature. It is the oldest private marine laboratory in the nation and employs 275 staff members year round. The MBL holds courses and studies over the summer where around 1400 scientists and students come to study.

The Butterfly Effect
The Butterfly Effect is a term that is used to describe how tiny changes in a system can affect much larger and complex systems. This theory gets its name from and also suggests that if a butterfly flapping its wings on one end of the world could have an effect in creating a tornado on the other side.
